Faculty
Joellyn M.
Young has a career in
theatre that spans twenty years of working with some of
America's greatest stars including Ben Vereen, Melissa Gilbert, Tom
Wopat and Kim Zimmer. She has toured as Eva Peron in Andrew Lloyd
Webber's Evita. She is dedicated to sharing her gifts with
students in
the
Indianapolis area and will be
teaching many of the classes
offered at
the Studio.
David S. Young brings thirty-five
years of professional experience in music to The Artists' Studio. A
known piano and voice teacher for sixteen years in the
Indianapolis area, David is dedicated to building passion and love of
the musical arts to students of all ages. He has toured extensively
with Broadway shows including Camelot, Sweeney Todd, South Pacific
and The Music Man. He was the
accompanist for Robert Goulet.
Kim Walters is a graduate of
Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in English. She is
currently finishing her master’s degree in language and literacy at
Purdue University and is a licensed Indiana Language Arts teacher.
Kim will be teaching Kindermusik and Music, Dance, Drama classes at
The Artists’ Studio. She is very excited to be joining the TAS team
and working with children who have a love of music and theatre.
Michael Yager
came to The Artists’ Studio in 2010 after having spending 12 years
in
California
honing his own craft. With his extensive improv training from
Second
City
as well as with revolutionary improv coaches such as Groundlings
co-founder Gary Austin, Michael has produced several highly
acclaimed long-form improv performances and has successfully taken
his unique shows underground and to mainstream audiences alike .
Additionally he is a serious student of acting and was carefully
trained by renown acting coach and teacher, Gary Imhoff, at the
Beverly Hills Playhouse in
Los Angeles.
Michael believes strongly that he learns as much as the students in
every class he leads.
Kent Livingston received his Bachelors Degree
in theatre from Butler University. He has worked as a professional
actor at theaters all over town including Q Artistry, IndyProv:
Improv Comedy, and The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. He has
taught and directed Children's theatre at the Children's Theater
Institute and The Artists' Studio Summer Camp. Kent lives in the
Butler neighborhood with his beautiful wife Sharon.
Jason
Poorboy,
a recent graduate of
Oklahoma
City
U.
brings his triple-threat experience as a singer, dancer, and actor
to the classroom.
He played Ryan in
High School Musical
at TAS, and has appeared in several musicals at the Oklahoma City
Music & Opera Company and The Carol Ann Theatre.
