Faculty
Joellyn M.
Young has a career in
theatre that spans twenty years of working with some of
America's greatest stars including Ben Vereen, Melissa Gilbert, Tom
Wopat and Kim Zimmer. She has toured as Eva Peron in Andrew Lloyd
Webber's Evita. She is dedicated to sharing her gifts with
students in
the
Indianapolis area and will be
teaching many of the classes
offered at
the Studio.
David S. Young brings thirty-five
years of professional experience in music to The Artists' Studio. A
known piano and voice teacher for nine years in the
Indianapolis area, David is dedicated to building passion and love of
the musical arts to students of all ages. He has toured extensively
with Broadway shows including Camelot, Sweeney Todd, South Pacific
and The Music Man. He was the
accompanist for Robert Goulet.
Rebecca Macy is a
new teacher at The Artists' Studio and will be teaching Broadway
Saturdays, Music Dance and Drama, Musical Theater Dance Styles, as
well as our enrichment program with participating schools. She grew
up on the south side of Indianapolis and graduated from The American
Musical and Dramatic Academy of New York City in 2005. Rebecca's
husband is a soldier in the U.S. Army and following his deployment
to Iraq, she moved back to Indianapolis to be with family and
friends. She has performed in numerous film and stage productions,
and is very excited
to be joining the TAS family!
Lisa DeMumbrum
has
been teaching several aspects of theatre for five years now. She
began teaching at American Cabaret Theater as a playwriting teacher
for the IPS year round enrichment program for troubled teens. From
there she's had the pleasure of teaching workshops on technical
theater for the Youth and Arts summer program at ACT. She was then
asked to teach her first love, acting, at IPS # 70. Lisa now joins
us after taking a break to have her baby, Ava Grace, to teach
classes in theatre music and dance of all ages and levels.
Amanda Gwin
has recently
joined the TAS crew. Amanda
started out as an actor at a young age. She has done many plays and
musicals through the years such as You have the Right to Remain
Dead, Out of Order, Bye, Bye Birdie, Scrooge the Musical, and Annie,
to name a few. She is finishing her BS in theatre at the University
of Indianapolis where she has stage managed Pippin, Black Comedy,
Speak Truth to Power, and, The Shape of Things. She has worked at
Shawnee Theatre in Bloomfield, Indiana for two summers. While there
she stage managed and acted. She has also been directing children
for the past seven years in shows such as; Annie, School House Rock
Live, Guys and Dolls, and All I Really Need to Know I Learned in
Kindergarten. This last December she directed her first straight
play with adults at UIndy, Ladies of the Mop. She is excited to be
here at The Artist Studio sharing theatre with great children and
families. She just closed Seussical the Musical. Don’t forget that;
"On the first day the lord
said... Q1, GO! and there was light."
Rosana
Schutte has been a part of the theatre world for over 30
years, directing and acting nationwide, and internationally. She has
worked at the Indianapolis Children's Museum both as director,
actor, and interpretive artist, at the Indianapolis Museum of Art as
writer, director, producer and actor, and the Eiteljorg Museum..
Rosana has worked at TAS as a teacher for Drama Kids and TAS I, as
well as adult acting. For TAS, she has directed Three Little
Pigs,Aladdin, Laura Ingalls Wilder, The Miracle Worker, Narnia the
Musical, and will be directing Honk!.
