The Sound of Music – June 6 – June 10

Grades: Kindergarten-Grade 5

9:00 am– noon

The hills are alive… Join this cast for an adventure through the Austrian alps and some of the most memorable songs of the Broadway theatre. Full staged version  to be produced by the children with sets and costumes.

 

 

High School Musical – June 6 – 10

Grades: 5-8

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm  

Back by popular demand!  This musical theatre production camp will rehearse, learn and perform High School Musical.  Campers will experience the three performance aspects of a musical including dancing, singing and acting.  The show will be cast on the first day.  Come ready to perform! 

               

Disney’s Alice in Wonderland– June 13 - 17

Grades: Kindergarten-Grade 5

9:00 am– noon

On a perfect summer day in the park, Alice daydreams while her sister Mathilda lectures from a book and children play games nearby. A White Rabbit suddenly hurries past Alice, who follows him to the edge of his hole, anxious to know where he is going. She ponders Mathilda's advice before jumping into the dark tunnel and the rest is Disney Magic!

 

Wicked– June 13 - 17

Grades: 5-8

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Back by popular demand! Experience how it all started with Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, and Galinda, the Good Wood of the North.  Their friendship struggles through their opposing personalities and viewpoints, rivalry over the same love-interest, their reactions to the Wizard’s corrupt government, and, ultimately, Elphaba's public fall from grace.  Enjoy songs like “No One Mourns the Wicked”, “Loathing”, “Defying Gravity”, “Popular” and more…

 

Diary of a Wimpy Kid – June 20 - 24

Grades: Kindergarten-Grade 5

9:00 am– noon

Brand new for 2011, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, based on the books by the same name is sure to become an Orchard favorite!  Children who have enjoyed the books will delight in finding and portraying their favorite characters on stage.  Travel through those treacherous middle school years with Greg Heffley and his friends who discover ways to survive and even enjoy that unique time between elementary and Jr. High School! 

 

Diary of a Wimpy Kid – June 20 - 24

Grades: 5-8

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Junie B. Jones– June 27 – July 1

Grades: Kindergarten-Grade 5

9:00 am– noon

Junie B. Jones is the main character in this comical review adapted for the stage by our own Joellyn Young. This playette will feature Junie and her best kindergarten and first grade friends Lucille, Grace, Herb, Lennie and Jose. The show will also feature her two rivals Jim and May. The camp promises to have a Wowie, wow , wow show.

 

Harry Potter on Stage! – June 27 – July 1

Grades: 5-8

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

If your child is even remotely interested in the Harry Potter books, this camp is sure to be the highlight of their summer!  Students of Hogwarts will be sorted into 4 houses and then spend the week learning and competing for the House Cup!  Days will be spent concocting potions, dueling wizards, practicing defense against the dark arts, creating their own unique wands, and of course playing Quidditch!  Students will also choose and rehearse scenes from the Harry Potter books.  Camp will conclude with a performance of these scenes and perhaps some magic surprises!

 

Peter Pan – July 5 - 8 Four Days Only!

Grades: Kindergarten-Grade 5

9:00 am- noon

Join Peter and the Lost Boys (and girls!!!) as they trick and battle Captain Hook in Neverland. Be in an adventure to find the buried treasure and save Wendy, Michael and John from Tiger Lilly’s band of Indians.

 

Mary Poppins – July 5 - 8 Four Days Only!

Grades: 5-8

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

A spoiled and bored upper crust Edwardian English family has their world turned upside down by an all nonsensical nanny who teaches them how to enjoy life. Actors will have a chance to sing, dance, do comedy and act in this delightful rendition of a classic movie. This musical and has both comedy and pathos and lots of imaginative scenes that are wonderful for adults and children alike. You'll be singing along in no time..."in the most delightful way!"

 

The Wizard of Oz – July 11 – 15

Grades: Kindergarten-Grade 5

9:00 am– noon

Be part of a production that will bring “forever kind of memories” as children portray the characters in this classic masterpiece. See and hear Dorothy, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Man sing Over the Rainbow and We’re off to See the Wizard!

 

Annie – July 11 – 15

Grades: Kindergarten-Grade 5

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Set against a Manhattan skyline in the era of the Great Depression, Annie, The Musical follows the rags to riches story of an eleven year old orphan without a friend in the world, except her faithful dog, Sandy. Annie's only hope is to escape the orphanage where the tyrannical Miss Hannigan makes life a misery and with the arrival of Daddy Warbucks her dreams finally can come true.

 

American Girl– July 18 - 22

Grades: Kindergarten-Grade 5

9:00 am– noon                      

The stage will bring to life the dolls from the American Girl collection. This dramatic story will take you into the world of Samantha, Kit, Molly, Felicity, Josefina, Kaya and more of their friends. If you love reading the stories or collecting the dolls, you are sure to enjoy this stage production.

 

Cinderella – July 18 - 22

Grades: Kindergarten-Grade 5

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This is the timeless fairy tale of poor Cinderella being endlessly mistreated by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters, and denied a chance to go to the Royal Ball. With a little help from her mice friends, and a lot of help from her Fairy Godmother, Cinderella goes to the ball, meets the Prince, and falls in love! With beautiful songs including the classic Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, this musical will charm its way into your heart, and remind you that dreams really can come true.

 

Where the Sidewalk Ends – A Shel Silverstein Fantasy – July 25 - 29

Grades: Kindergarten-Grade 5

9:00 am– noon

Where the Sidewalk Ends is a collection of children's poetry written by Shel Silverstein. The book's poems address many common childhood concerns and also presents purely fanciful stories adapted by Joellyn Young from TAS and presented in a dramatic setting.

 

Sleeping Beauty – July 25 - 29

Grades: Kindergarten-Grade 5

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

It’s Princess Aurora’s sixteenth birthday, and Flora, Fauna and Merryweather must use their fairy magic to save her from the spell of evil sorceress Maleficent! This classic fairy tale is told Disney-style. Everyone will want to sing and dance along to the classic “Once Upon a Dream” and fun new numbers like “Goon Conga” and “Let’s Have Some Magic Now.”
